dungaree hype

(dungarees - missguided*...top - topshop...fedora - river island...)

so, hello! remember me? i am finding it so so hard to find time to take outfit pictures during the festive period, i either feel far too fat after too many mince pies, or the sun has gone to bed by the time im ready for photos!!! but, i managed to find some time today to pose and be a tart, so here it is!

i got sent these dungarees a while ago for my internship and i absolutely love them! they're from missguided, and the link is above. they're a steal at just £22.99, and just so versatile. i love them with a plain white t-shirt underneath, it makes it casual enough to wear out for drinks but would also be perfect in a work environment! i also think if you teamed them with a crop top underneath you could wear them out on the towwnnn. perfecto!

hoping to get a few more posts under my belt before the new year.... i can't believe christmas has been and gone, and now i'm waiting on new year. 2014 will see my graduate uni... eep. what to do then???

until next time...xo

elle internship: week two

(top to bottom...my 'what elle wears' photos...amazing mariafrancescapepe rings...a tidy fashion cupboard on my final day...cake pop...feeling festive)

well, my final week at elle has been and gone, and i am definitely ready to relax for christmas! although, i'm gutted i had to leave elle, i absolutely loved interning there and hope to go back soon!

the week was a bit intense at first, as i realised i was the only intern this week!!! that meant that i was in charge of a lot of returns - and when the cupboard had to be cleared by friday, that's a lot of work!! but, i didn't mind, as it meant i could show them what i could do! just call me super intern... myself and the fashion intern manager managed to completely clear the cupboard by friday, which was a hell of a lot of work, but sooo worth it to know i've helped make everyone's jobs after christmas easier as they won't have a pile of returns to come back to!!

it was super exciting this week as i was asked to be photographed for the infamous what elle wears gallery. i was sooo pleased as it's a massive privilege to be on the elle uk website - still can't believe it!! the pictures are uploaded above, and i just want to say a massive thank you to elle for letting me be on the website!

so, the week was a week of returnsreturnsreturns...but there were lots of perks! i got to try my first ever cake pop, which is featured above as a cute little penguin. BUT it was literally the most amazing chocolate fudge cake i've everever tasted. it was so squidgy and yummy, aahh... wish i could have it again! there's always sooo many sweets in the fashion cupboard, a little bit of sugar helps along with the day!

on friday (my final day booohoooo :() i bought in some chocolatey bits and a thank you card, which i think it of paramount importance at the end of any internship as it's nice to show appreciation at being given such an amazing opportunity. there was also a beauty sale in the fashion cupboard, which i thought you know, would be chilled.... i was veryveryvery wrong. people were lined up around the cupboard with empty bags waiting to be let in, and the minute we were allowed into the room people were pushing, shoving, scraping as many products into their bags as possible! it was anarchy. i was so scared. i need to man up for this industry! i managed to bag a lancome foundation, 2 percy+russell hair products, and some hair wax for my brother. i was also sososososo lucky and sooo spoilt with my goody bag from the fashion girls!!! i got a forever 21 scarf and beanie, topshop advent calender, no7 lipstick, clutch bag, victoria's secret pants...to name some of the wonderful gifts! christmas came early!

so it's over, and i am soso upset as i loved every second, such amazing experience. i hope to go back for a longer period next year! luckily, i have a week lined up at the guardian in the fashion cupboard for february, so keep your eyes peeled for more intern posts! until next time xo

elle internship: week one

(pic1 - gorgeous dress/liberty of london and oxford circus...pic2 - poser/juicy couture bag/beautiful headpieces...pic3 - ootd/elle cupcake/carnaby street...pic 4 - ootd/sushi snack/returns queen...pic 5 - ME ON ELLE INSTAGRAM...pic 6 - elle photobooth)

well, this week has gone past in a big blur of beautiful clothes, tubes, and boots meal deals. interning at elle has been AMAZING, and goes so quickly. i'm there for 2 weeks, and thought i'd share my experiences day by day with you :) (warning: writing and picture heavy, but you will want to read it all, it's interesting!)

DAY 1: didn't start the greatest way i'd imagined, as i had about 3 hours sleep due to my body being an absolute moron during the night, and then decided to feel 100% better at 7am. when i had to get up. good one... anyway! onwards and upwards! after changing my clothes A THOUSAND TIMES, i decided on a smock dress and boots. i'd already been contacted on the sunday with my first mission.... go to MANOLO BLAHNIK to pick up some shoes, and take them to a shoot. i felt very devil wears prada. i got to chelsea to the head offices of MB earlier than expected, which was good as it's always a good idea to be early!! then, i zoomed on over to a shoot that left me absolutely amazedddd. i felt very unimportant and normal, and started to feel out of my depth....but then, i was zoomed back to the offices, to start proper intern life! it was back to the old returns, dockets, post trips...but the clothes!!! my goodness, i've never seen so many beautiful clothes in my life! i left my first day feeling confident, and excited to get back! oh... and did i mention, they have a PHOTOBOOTH in the office??????

DAY 2: today i felt much more at ease and like i knew what i was doing. it was a day full of returns, but that doesn't matter to me as it's what i expect to be doing all day, and i got to package up the  most BEAUTIFUL chanel pearl necklace - so i was pleased. one thing that breaks up the day is physically returning items to stores and PRs, as the elle offices are so central! i also got an amazing elle cupcake today - yummmmm.

DAY 3: another day another stack of returns to get through! but i don't mind too much as i just can't get enough of the gorge clothes :) and as drake said, started at the bottom now we hereee (hopefully i'll be here one day...) interning is a real strain on the old purse strings, especially as you're travelling at peak times on the tubes. it panicked me a bit today, but then i remembered what an amazing opportunity this is - and i just gotta keep going until my CV looks amazing and one day i might be a fashion assistant myself! keep on swimming.

DAY 4: today was the best day so far by a mile! it started normally with returnsreturnsreturns, but then i was asked to help lay out all the clothes, shoes and accessories for a cover shoot! i was so chuffed to be able to help out, and lay everything out VERY NEATLY and hung everything with absolute precision, as i was told lorraine candy and anne marie curtis would be coming in to edit it and examine the pieces. when they came in, i stood very quietly out of their way, moving things when asked, but feeling ever so important and SOOO LUCKY to be in the same room with two amazing women!!! also, the accessories were to die for. best day so far!!!!!!!!!!!! i even got to have a sneaky cameo on the official elle uk instagram!!!

DAY 5: today was pretty quiet, as the elle xmas do was the night before so people were either off, or quiet and hungover. just battled through the returns!!! one plus was, because it was quiet, i got to go in the photobooth yayyy :D:D:D:

week one over!!!! tune in next week to hear about my final week at elle :D until next time xo

winter warmth

(coat - ark*...fedora - river island...boots - office)

baby it's cold outside! i'm chuffed with the weather, been so excited to whack out the jumpers, chunky tights and boots for ages! the tartan trend is still rife, and i absolutely love my tartan coat from ark. very chic, and perfect to wrap up warm in!

i feel like i'm wrapped up in a big marshmellow! when i got it out of the parcel i gasped at how soft it is! it's thick and really padded, making you feel like you're being hugged all day! i haven't got any coloured coats, i tend to stick to black (not that you'll have noticed...) so i like that is jazzes up my outfit a little bit. giving me even MORE excuse to wear all black so i can wear my coat. excellent!!! the sleeves are slightly cropped, but i actually really love the fit. not too baggy, but enough space under it for a big jumper for winter nights :)

i had to include my fedora, i know i've blogged about it but i just love it. it really adds class to an outfit, and i need all the help i can get when it comes to class... im glad it fits properly as i have a huge head, and sometimes hats can be a bit small. bless me and my huge head. it's perfect for winter, but can't wait to wear it in summer with little dresses and boots!!

off to london tomorrow to start my internship at elle!!! wish me luck :D until next time xo

a very nottingham christmas

(fedora - river island...gilet - topshop...jumper - primark...leggings - topshop)

christmas markets are VITAL in getting you in the festive spirit! i go to uni in nottingham, and just had to investigate the annual christmas market! i've gone everywhere, and it really illuminates the city, and gets everyone smiling as they cross market square and hearing a christmas song and smell mulled wine.

a couple of friends (who were excellent photographers, thanks guys) and i ventured into the christmas market to have a proper look around. i was there when the lights were turned on, but it was absolutely RAMMED and no way of having a proper look round. i personally love the lights everywhere, little twinkly lights...big santa lights... flashing lights... it just makes me feel so festive!!

there are loads of fab stalls to have a nosey at, with burger and hog roast stands giving off some incredible smells everywhere. a soup stand always gets my attention when i walk through town in the day, as warm soup on a cold day is just beaut. when i visited the other night however, the pancake stall was my first point of call. love a good pancake! next time i will definitely be stopping off at the cadbury chocolate stand, as i am dying for a hot chocolate with marshmellows! i was also instantly drawn to the chocolate fountain, with chocolate kebab type skewers. as you can see in the pictures, attention to detail was essential, with some decorated as reindeers and snowmen! so cute!

i had to take some outfit posts near the carousel. i'm always drawn to the lights (again) and the colours. i managed to take a few sneakily before the ride started up again. i decided to debut my fur gilet for the first time this year. i managed to pick this beauty up for just EIGHT POUNDS at a car boot sale, never been worn and topshop!! don't think the lady knew what she had... anyway, it came to a good home! i also got a fedora FINALLY as an early xmas present (cheers mum), and i absolutely love it. it is so autumn/winter, and fits perfectly with the outfit. i felt a bit like millie mackintosh, without the gorgeous face, body and pro green as my husband, ofc...

hope everyone is feeling festive! :) until next time...xo

english student seeks fashion career...please?!

(top to bottom: company blog awards...last day at fabulous,,,fashion shoots...runway frontrow...intern badge...call sheet...modelling...styling)

this is a different kind of post to my usual outfit ones. i felt i wanted to try and articulate my feelings about wanting to embark in the world of fashion...armed with an english degree. it's daunting, i will admit. but it's something that a lot of people can relate to, and i truly think there should be more positive outlooks on this :) life is not your degree - it's what you make of it!

when i was choosing my degree back in year 13 (which was, scarily, 3 years ago...), i was told to do something i knew i was good at, and something that i knew i liked. so, seeing as i'd always been good at english and enjoyed it at school, i chose to study english with linguistics at nottingham trent. this post isn't to say i regret my choice, as i really love my degree, it's challenging but really interesting (linguistics is slightly better than the english, but never mind), and i'm glad i picked it. but, last year i started getting really into fashion. legit obsessed with it. and at my uni, there's an amazing fashion department with a thousand different aspects to study, and i wondered - why didn't i know about this??? i didn't realise it was possible to study anything other than design when it came to fashion, but had i known that a degree in fashion business existed, would i have chosen english? who knows. but i feel schools should offer more choices to students when they are choosing degrees - after all, at 18 i had NO CLUE what i wanted to do, and also had no idea subjects other than the bog standard ones existed at university level. there's a thousand degrees out there that i'd never heard of, but each just as credible as the next. i kind of wish i'd known more about the choice that's out there, rather than being told to stick to the stuff i know. (desperately trying not to sing 'status quo' from highschoolmusical....)

experience seems to be something that, to some employers, is more important than what degree you study. i've noticed that when researching 'how to crack the fashion business' (like it's that easy you can just google it...) the word EXPERIENCE comes up more often than not. i've found that having a lot of extra experience to add on my CV that relates specifically to the fashion industry has helped me when attaining internships, and also made me feel a lot better when explaining i have an english degree, BUT look at all this other stuff i've done!!!

blogging has transformed the way i've thought about approaching the job market. i've seen fashion and beauty bloggers who study everything from fashion to physics, and every blog is just as informative and faahhbulousss as the next. it doesn't seem to matter what your degree is in if you have a genuine love for something else. every degree offers something an employer wants, as in order to get a degree, you have to be organised, prompt, articulate...and a number of other transferable skills that any employer would want to snap up! just because you study english or maths or anything else, doesn't mean that you can't study fashion (or anything else for that matter!) but, on the flip side, a degree isn't everything, and i've seen a lot of successful people in the fashion world have enviable careers with

i guess what i'm trying to say, and i'm not sure if i have, is there is hope for those of us who love fashion, but our degree may state otherwise. with a bit of experience under your belt, or just a chance at an interview to convey your real love for it, i think we have just a big a chance at making it in the fashhhbizzzzz as anyone else. maybe it's for my own piece of mind, but i really think it's possible. and maybe, in another world, i would have chosen that fashion degree. but i didn't. so i shall march on into the big scary world of fashion, armed with my english degree and a pair of vagabond boots, and convince everyone i deserve to be here.

until next time...xo

sheepish: urban outfitters jacket

(jacket - urban outfitters*...shirt - primark...leggings - topshop...boots - asos)

so as i explained in my last post about the ever so exciting opening of the nottingham urban outfitters (click HERE to see!!!), i was very generously allowed to have one item from the store to blog to you lovely people about. and here is the grand unveiling!

my eyes popped straight out of my head when i was told i could pick an item - i felt like a kid in a candy shop. everywhere i looked there was something i loved, embellishments...sequins...velvet...black boots... it was louisa heaven. but, after wandering around truly worrying i would end up leaving with a pair of socks as i was so indecisive, i popped my thinking cap on and concentrated on something i really wanted.

i've wanted a new black jacket for a while now, as my leather jacket is pretty thin for the winter months and i feel it's going to die soon (sniffsniff). i searched around for another leather jacket, but couldn't see any that took my fancy... and then my eyes focused in on a black, sheepskin lined jacket. i stroked the sheepskin, and was amazed at how soft it was. the material of the coat is thick and sturdy, and quilted on the inside. once i tried it on, i knew it was love. it's ridiculously cosy, and i absolutely love the sheepskin. it is so different to anything else i have, and the rest - they say - is history!

thank you again urban outfitters! until next time...xo

urban outfitters: nottingham launch

the first thing i said when i moved to nottingham for uni was 'oh, it doesn't have an urban outfitters', and i would have to find somewhere else to blow my student loan. HOWEVER, my dreams have been answered, as a gorgeous new store has finally opened in the heart of the victoria centre. i was lucky enough to go to the blogger preview before it opened to the public, and i can safely say, my debit card is no longer safe.

the store is absolutely hugeeee and with its huge lit up sign definitely attracts attention. as i waited outside for fellow blogger allie-may from thefridaygirl, i noticed how many people were stopping to stare at the new shop, mainly students squealing as they realised they'll have a new place to spend their cash. i met up with allie, and we were allowed inside (feeling super important as the doors locked behind us!!). the PR for UO was super super nice and friendly, and showed us over to an AMAZING breakfast spread. which was good for this student blogger, as i most definitely don't have croissants in my fridge...

after pigging out with amazing food, we were informed that we were allowed one thing that we wanted from the store. naturally, our jaws dropped. i literally could not believe how generous they were, and fully back Urban Outfitters as a brand! allie and i also made full use of the amazing photobooth, as any good blogger would, ofc...

we started having a nosey around, and let me tell you, there's a ridiculous amount of beautiful stuff packed in that shop!!! from sequin vintage dresses, big wooly coats, vagabond boots, to cute unicorn candles, there's something for everyone. christmas will be an easy affair this year for everyone - just get me something from there!!!! i ended up picking this super cosy black jacket, which i will do an outfit post on soon!

all in all, it was an amazing opportunity and i am sososo grateful to UO for their amazing generosity and friendly hospitality. until next time...xo
